Is It Safe to Be Near It?
Stay away from a fallen tree that touches wires, a house or a vehicle. Branches and trunks that look stable can shift as they are cut. Trees uprooted in wet clay may still be partly held by roots and can roll or spring back.
How Crews Handle It
The crew studies where the wood is loaded and which cut will release it. They cut from the side that is free first, work from the top end toward the base and move the pieces out as they go. Root balls can be tall and heavy, so they are tipped back or cut away last.
What Cleanup Should Include
- Hauling logs and brush, or stacking the wood if you want to keep it
- Raking and blowing off the lawn and driveway
- Removing the root ball and filling the hole, if you ask
- Stump work, priced separately, see stump grinding
Cost and Insurance
Price depends on size, where it landed and how much damage it made. If it hit your house, call your insurer before the cleanup starts and keep photos. See what homeowners insurance may cover. If it is blocking your door or a road, treat it as an emergency.
